Was a good crazy day!

Mom and dad's cottage on the ski hill should be finished by Christmas time and we are going to ENJOY it to the fullest!  This was the last weekend of the season so the conditions were a little sketchy but we had a great day. We are looking forward to this annual event!

spring break

Spring break was full of events this year! We traveled many miles, but it was worth it! Priceless ... as MasterCard says :) This first set of pictures is of our tobogganing adventure on the creek hill. It was steeper than I remembered. Great exercise though. Michelle was home with her kids who had spring break the week before.

The Ninja Egg Craft was compliments of Auntie Alyson and her shopping trip the day before to the states with Michelle and Jacinda. I am a little jealous of their Hobby Lobby purchases, but my MasterCard husband is probably glad I didn't get there early enough to join them!

Looking good J&A!

Fresh Air fun!

spring?

You wouldn't know it by the weather, but spring has been here for a month now. It has been a whole month of more snow and freezing temperatures. Since there is not much I can do about the outside scenery, I decided to bring spring inside. I only purchased a couple new additions the the decor for this year. And, I still have the kids pictures up on the piano. I can't bring myself to take them down in any season because they looks like sweet angels in the photos ... and I think it helps me get through the un-sweet times :)

new candle holder with some plastic eggs

Cannot get enough of this antique vase from Grandma O

spring 2013 mantel set up (with new green birds)

gift from Samara :)

new table cloth from Simons (love the home section of that store)
So, the little things do help when it is minus 15 outside and it is April 24.  I like that little joke that is going around on Facebook:  "Hope summer lands on a Saturday this year"!  Happy Spring for now.

life's a chair of bowlies

A long time ago my friend Lynda gave me a card with the saying "life's a chair of bowlies" and I haven't forgotten that phrase.  Love it for some reason!  Don't really know what it is supposed to mean but it has a nice ring to it.

I am not sure what has come over me this month with the buying of chairs!   A week or so ago a friend talked me into stopping at this little antique store on our way home from Lloyd ... almost twisted my arm off!!   We perused the store for a bit and I came away with a lovely old crokinole board that we already got our thirty dollars worth of play out of (and amazingly still have all the checkers).  Then as we were leaving, the store guy asks, "Do you want to see our other place?"  What a crazy question to ask!!  To me that is like asking "Do you ever want to eat again?"  Um, let me think about it ....

So, we walked over to another run down looking building and had a look around the unheated "showroom".  Seriously, it was probably 2 degrees in there.  But worth it when I found this chair ...

I plan to re-upholster it sometime in the next 10 years, but for now it is just perfect for the phone desk spot!

Then, last night I happened to check the local buy and sell Facebook page and I found these beauties:

Are they not the cutest old red chairs you have ever seen?  My 10 year plan for these is to give them a fresh coat of red paint!  They should be perfect for the office, and they were only 10.00 each!

NOTE:  I started setting realistic, attainable goals for myself, since all the things I planned to do before spring are still undone.  Even with the longest coldest spring ... EVER.

already missing Grady

Sorry I am am WAY behind on blogging.  Life just gets in the way sometimes!!

Last night I went to the Kindergarten registration night for my "baby".  Good thing Grady can't read yet because he DETESTS being called the baby.  Gets right angry about it for some reason.  I am already feeling sad about him going to kindergarten because he is such good company.

This episode is from yesterday:

We are driving along in the van and he is in the backseat.  As usual, he is chatting a mile a minute.  I am listening.  The radio is on low.  In the middle of one of his long winded sentences he says, "Quiet mom, I like this song"!
