trail riders

In September, on one of those hot hot Saturdays, our neighbors came up with the idea to go on a trail ride. So, we joined them at the Penner Ranch and had a lovely time. I think Keithan rode Splash, Samara rode Alvin and Rhett rode Gunner. Grady and I shared a horse, of course, (of whose name I cannot recall)!

Saskatoon visits

As many of you know, Uncle Keith has been diagnosed with cancer that is untreatable. We've enjoyed a few special visits to Saskatoon to see him, thanks to our lovely "bed and breakfast" hosts Mark and Jill. The first visit was when we met up with mom and dad to pick up Samara from her week away, before his terminal diagnosis. We stayed with Terry and Candice that time ... and the kids enjoyed the pool bonus!! At this point Uncle Keith is getting weaker and is quite dizzy as a result of a medication side-effect, but is still having good days. It is really something to witness his acceptance of God's will for his life, even in facing death. I've also loved seeing how much he is loved by so many, and how much he loves so many.

Hot September

We had the most unbelievable fall on record ... by my records anyway! We went to the beach everyday after school for a whole week. If I think really hard when I look at the photos I can still what that was like 2 months ago. It was great. All summer long we go back and forth to the cabin and miss out on our own beach 2 blocks away, so this was a treat. The water was even warm enough to get in! Even I had to get in once when the wind was blowing Keithan "out to sea" on the floating dinosaur! I have decided this lake is not a good one for un-anchored flotation devices. But oh, if I could turn the heat back on outside ... as today was a high of -2. p.s. The pretty mom and her cute little boy who joined us one afternoon are Janie and Denver H.

Roomie Reunion

Awhile back ... I guess around the end of August, Leah (care of her sister Alayne) hosted a great event ... the 2011 Room-mate Reunion. You may have heard it advertised on the radio! Ha! In attendance was Leah L, Leah H, Sherry J, Corri-lee P and myself. The 5 of us shared a house together in 1995, then townhouse in 1996 after we got kicked out of the original house! Well, not really evicted because we were bad tenants, but the owner of the house went bankrupt and the bank wasn't into the rental business so we had no choice. Anyway, I digress ... now we are old, but we still like to get together and have some pizza and share a few good laughs! So, as a recap of the last 17 years or so, we have 2 ministers, 3 moms, and 8 kids between us. Not too shabby!
