This was such a great week that I cannot even put it into words!!  I guess that is why you had to scroll through so many pictures.  I wish I had taken more.  Oh well, you get the idea ... and I have enough to help when my memory fails me!  Just reviewing them now I noticed I did not put any skurfing photos in this post (if that is even how you spell it).   Whether or not I spelled it right I even tried it myself and I think I could eventually enjoy it!  I hope this meeting at the lake becomes an annual tradition, that is all I can say.

Birthday celebration

I must say, summer birthdays are a bit of a challenge in the school years but there is not much a mom can do about it (at least not without some serious thought 9 months prior to summer)!

I remember that summer 10 years ago when we welcomed a healthy baby girl with great lungs into our lives. The loud cries throughout the hospital and later on at home (felt like 3 months straight) were just preparing us for her love of singing! Anyway, our dear daughter entered the double digits this summer and hasn't looked back.

We were able to celebrate a little later on in her birthday month and found a few friends to join us. The party was a surprise until she read my texts the night before, which I found out later, but she pretended to be surprised! Did I mention she likes to act as well as sing? Help us!!! There was also a real surprise for both of us when some old friends who had moved away over 5 years ago knocked on the door. I love that quote:
"true friendship isn't about being inseparable, it about being separated and nothing changes"

Loon Lake weekend

We went straight from the fair to the cabin and were joined by Royce and Lisa and family, Don and Marilyn, Hugh, Nicole,Clint and Marilee, Grandpa and Grandma ... and Phil even came for a part of it! I think he was able to come to the cabin more this year than the last 3 years put together. Not that I was keeping track :)  We had a GREAT time.  Nothing beats some fun in the sun with friends!  Lisa also posted  some pictures on her blog which you can check out if you click on the link to her blog (in the family and friend list).
