Farwell to Hawaii
These will be the last of the Hawaii photos .. I promise! It has been fun slowly adding them, and reliving the trip! These photos are from the Hilo region and the Volcano region. The banyan trees were planted in the 1930s by famous folk - the ones shown were planted by Amelia Earhart and Babe Ruth. The bed and breakfast place we stayed in was absolutely perfect (Orchid Tree if anyone is interested in going there). The lava flow was neat - the darker it got the more the red showed up (but of course my battery was dying). We couldn't see the lava going into the ocean because of a lava wall blocking the view, but we could see the steam and the red glow. The other volcano views are from the national park. Until next time, goodnight!

Hawaii - continued
We took the northern route around the island to Hilo, looking forward to all the sights along the way. Unfortunately, we mostly drove in rain and fog, so we need to go back sometime to see how it looks, as described in the tour books. The above falls are in Hilo - Rainbow falls (minus the rainbow) and another one where we almost witnessed a falling into the falls, compliments of a not so smart tourist.
the Hilton resort
This place is amazing ... in price too! We stayed here for 3 nights at the discounted rate of 229 USD plus all the taxes, and paid parking, and .... 6 dollar coffee! Some of the other A&W people stayed 2 weeks at this one spot. They must sell a few more hamburgers than us! As nice as it was, I'm glad we toured around.
I thought I had a lot more photos of the resort but they must have just been in my mind! You can check the hotel website out online if you are interested ... for an interactive tour! I enjoyed my lunch and shopping date with Rene and Angela! How ironic is that ... Angela on our second honeymoon ... she was with us for our first honeymoon (met up in India)!!
