a new nephew
It was a big surprise to hear about the arrival of Gavin Roy Shultz this morning. He wanted to get out I guess ... and he was probably running out of room to move! Gavin was born 3 weeks early and weighed 8lbs 3oz. I can't wait to see him, but in the meantime I'll have to survive looking at pictures such as these that mom and dad sent. Congrats to Mommy Carla and Daddy Tim!!

holiday fever continued ...
... a continuation of the holiday events! I forgot to mention, sort of on purpose, that I had a birthday around this time! Anyway, my lovely sister-in-law made a fabulous pavlova for me - thank you (I did share it)! I don't mind the cake part of the birthday, but I do try and forget the # of years! I know it is not possible that the years go by more quickly as you age, but you are definitely more conscious of it. Auntie Alyson also supplied us with some tooth-brushing entertainment with Agent Blue (shows the plaque in blue - yuck). So, there you have it ... a picture of what the holiday was like for us. The pictures are mostly in reverse order, give or take a few! The side profile shot of Carla is for the benefit of those who haven't had the privilege of seeing my lovely sister in her pregnant state! Did I mention - only 1 more month to go and I can hardly wait!! Hope she starts a blog!
holiday fever
The 2 weeks off school were enjoyed by all and now we are one week back into the school routine. It has been an adjustment, but the kids didn't miss the bus once! The bus driver must have been running behind too! We loved every minute with our visitors - my whole family was together for 1 night!! We seriously do all get along!! Oh well, I'll take what I can get and I'm glad they came.
Before Christmas I took the kids to visit some friends and we went skating, made gingerbread houses and attempted to make snow globes. Don't believe everything you read on the craft site!! We had a few mishaps with glue not sticking, jars leaking and I can't remember what else went wrong! It was entertaining for sure and in the end most of them turned out!
We went swimming Christmas eve - lots of fun since we almost had the facility to ourselves! Mom helped me with the turkey (she brought it and cooked it!). So we stuffed ourselves for Saturday lunch and then didn't have to eat much for the rest of the day - just a few chocolates to slide in the cracks. Was nice to to see Carla's baby bump; so excited for the next few weeks!!! Mom and dad left for Red Deer to see grandma and Jarvis and Carla and families left Sunday :( One memorable game of the weekend was a FEW rounds of Apples to Apples. Next time I need to break open the expansion pack for you Alyson! Guess you had to be there, but we had more than a few laughs!
Sorry about the picture overload - will break it into 2 bites!
