warmer weather ahead

I'm packing for Hawaii! I can't wait to get there ... and to show you pictures when we get back! I'm so looking forward to some heat. This week we had -38 ... without windchill. Samara and Keithan are ok with us going, Rhett wants to come, and Grady doesn't have a clue. Makes me sad already. We leave Sunday the first and are back on the 11th. Bon voyage!

overdue update

I guess our life has been boring of late ... nothing much to report! Grady is growing little by little. He was 2nd percentile for height and weight at his one year check up! Rhett has decided the potty isn't so bad after all so I'm DELIGHTED about that. I was running out of motivating ideas and options! Keithan is still Keithan ... almost 5 years old! Samara is still enjoying school and speaks more French than I do now! I'm not sure how I'll help with homework later on, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Phil and I are excited about our Hawaii trip ... and both a little nervous about leaving the kids for 10 days. I know they will do fine and if we keep busy we'll do fine!!

Grady is ONE!

Grady officially turned one on January 8th at 10:00pm. He had a cupcake to celebrate the occasion on Thursday night! As you can see, he quite enjoyed that, and then needed a clean up! Then last night he shared a party with Cody Stewart who turned 19 on the 8th. On Sunday I think Grandpa and Grandma are coming so we'll have another party and another cake! Not bad - 3 cakes for one year. We've taken many trips down memory lane ... some pleasant memories and some not so much that way! Poor Grady ... by the time he's 6 he'll be reciting all the details himself!

As you can see, I'm still struggling with Rhett and the whole potty training thing. It will be a race to see who is out of diapers first!

Happy New Year

We had a family feast again for New Years! Big surprise there! We live in a land of plenty of food! I did manage to squeeze a couple games out of a select few - Scrabble and Settlers of Catan so I started the year off right! We had a little photo session just before we left. Hard to know where to look when there are 10 cameras to look at! Keithan and Rhett also discovered a game of sliding down the stairs to the basement. It is called Rugburn Action! Of course I missed most of it! I never take enough photos it seems. As of right now my new years resolution is to take more photos and more videos (the stair game would have been good). That means I need to always charge my extra battery right away, make sure there's a memory card in the camera ... and always know where the camera is! Sounds easy.

Christmas '08

Twas the day of Christmas and all through the house was FOOD! We kind of pigged out at Uncle Victor and Auntie Lenore's place on Christmas day. Rhett's diet for the day consisted of dessert and chocolates ... and a little tiny bit of potatoes and gravy before that. We did fit in a few games in between snacks, and then it was time to go.
