interview update
Well, I finished one interview via telephone to Hong Kong. I don't think she'll be the one. She sounded very nice and all but she's Seventh Day Adventist and will not work Saturdays. I also found out last night that the lady I was hopeful about has withdrawn her application as she just found out she might get a job in Toronto (where she knows someone). I have one more lady calling tonight from Singapore so I hope that is promising. She has a degree in Commerce and Finance, so her resume says. Maybe she can do our books on the side!!

nanny 911
I am faced with a difficult decision now since the professing Filipino I wanted and was approved for could take up to 2 years to be approved by the Canadian Embassy in the Philippines. I want to keep that application open so that she can eventually come over if it works out. I have 3 resumes of Filipinos who are working as nannies out of the country; one in Singapore, one in Taiwan, and one in Hong Kong. Two of them have their own young children back in the Philippines and they are working to support their family there. If you go on any nanny websites there are literally hundreds of women doing this. Seems crazy. One of them did not refer to children of her own but is married. I guess they are willing to miss out on their own kids growing up years so they can by chance get an opening to come to Canada and then eventually move their whole family here. I have a new appreciation for being a Canadian citizen. Anyway, I am setting up some telephone interviews tomorrow evening but the whole thing seems scary to me! Once I choose someone that is already out of the Philippines it will only take 3-4 months to have that someone in place. I'll keep you posted.

monday madness
It seemed like an eventful day today. I went to the studio to pick out "the family picture", but I came away choosing two! The more formal one for the living room turned out pretty good of everyone ... except Samara looked better in another picture of the same pose. They are going to see if they can "fix" it. The other picture I chose for our bedroom. It is a panoramic shot of us laying on the floor. The kids are kind of being silly in it ... but it is cute. In four weeks they should be ready to pick up so I'll try taking a picture of the pictures!

outside=mudslide
You should see our driveway and street. It is a muddy, slushy, wet mess. I was planning on taking a photo of the kids outside. I came in to get my camera and by the time I came out Samara was a mess. She filled her rubber boots with water in the first 3 minutes. Her winter boots were still wet from yesterday so she was out of luck. I had told them to stay out of the mud. She reminded me I told her to stay out of the mud, not the muddy puddles. Yesterday Keithan got stuck in the neighbors lot (they are in the building process)and ended up with socks in the mud.
Last night I washed all their clothes from that mess ... and now I need to start over again. We were planning to go to Walmart this afternoon ... but haven't made it yet!

photo frenzy
It seems funny to title this entry as photo frenzy, with no photo to show for it. But, we had our first studio picture today at the local photographer ... and it was a memorable experience. Rhett was most uncooperative. For the first few minutes he sat well, but didn't smile. In the next few minutes he smiled but wouldn't sit still. In the last few minutes he was mad and squirmy. This made for a fairly short photo shoot. Since we live in a digital world the photographer said they may be able to make a good picture by combining two of them together. Should be interesting!
